Review: The Face Shop Face It GL 112

I know, another nail polish post but lately I've been buying nail polish in all colors so I can't help it! Today, I'll be reviewing The Face Shop Face It in GL112. This is a golden shade which I adore. It's a dull gold, a bit two-toned and shimmery which I like. It really pops in your hands and looks like liquid gold. Some people won't like this because it's streaky but what I love about TFS polish is that it's really easy to apply. No fuss and also easy to remove. One more thing I like about this is it stays for almost two weeks without chipping off (unlike some brands, even hi-end ones).

I have yet to make my own DIY lightbox for my product shots. Soon! I'll also show here a step by step procedure how you can make one at home so watch out for that.

Review: Orly Blue Suede in Matte Finish

Hey everyone! It's been months since my last post and here I am again with a brand new polish post. I'm currently in love with Orly's matte polish. I actually have 3 and the other two I shall blog about soon.

Sooo, matte polish. I actually like them because they're not as poppy as the usual polish which are shiny any super bright. I like it because it's deep and muted and it has a "rough" feel it to. It's not your usual polish and I like that.

Here it is in the bottle.

The color is a deep blue which has zero shine in it and looks amazing!

Also, I should say that I definitely love Orly's handle because it's rubberized and makes it easy to open the bottle.

So have you tried any matte polish lately?

Revlon Nail Polish in Scandalous

I'm all about the glitter polishes as you can see here (more to come) so when I saw this purple glittery nail polish from Revlon, I instantly bought it because it seems unique and I love the color.

Color in the bottle is super cute, right? Well actually, I didn't expect the glitters to be that big when applied, my mistake. There's nothing really wrong here since I knew what I was getting. But I think the purple polish itself turned out to be a very sheer black than purple. It's only the glitter that is purple.

This polish is a bit hard to apply because it takes two or three layers to make it look like this. It's a bit awkward looks a little bit Cruella de Vil to me, right? I obviously can't return it because we don't have the same rules like in the US which sucks for us customers (okay, not exactly sure, just assuming).

The Face Shop Nail Polish in PP401 & BR802

This was an accidental buy, really. I was in TFS wanting to buy their super great nail polish remover. I had no cash at hand but they had a minimum for their credit card transaction so I had to buy other stuff and so I settled for nail polish.

First, let me talk about BR802 which on the bottle is very beige and looks super opaque but when applied, looks very orange-y, sadly disappointing. It's a weird orange, it kind of in the middle. It's not too bright and also not too beige-y.

Next is the purple nail polish which is super cute! I like bright nail polish that isn't too loud like neon and this is perfect! I love it to bits and it's also easy to apply and super affordable too. 

Each bottle costs around P95. A bit more expensive than local brands and a lot cheaper than imported brands like Orly and China Glaze.

I think I'm back on blogging. I've been wanting to blog lately and if you haven't noticed, I changed the layout of my blog thanks to Blogger. 

Anyway, here's a cute nail polish I bought last month at PCX in Rockwell. Yes, there are some stores that carry China Glaze polish. I've seen them in PCX and in Watsons Fort. 

Here are the things I like about this polish - it's glittery, it's subtle, it's a mix of fancy and simple. It just works on any occasion and it's so easy to apply. You might need two coats for an even and opaque-y finish. Consistency isn't too runny nor is it too thick which makes it easy to apply.

What I don't like about this polish is it's a bit hard to remove because of the glitters. I've been using the My Nails polish remover which I saw in my mom's bathroom. I finished the bottle so I bought my super favorite The Face Shop Polish Remover. I haven't used it on the China Glaze polish, hopefully it removes the polish better and with less struggle. 

It's also a bit pricey for a nail polish - PHP 350 a pop!

Silver Frosty Fingers

I've never been interested in frosty nails but this caught my eye. I went to Haya Spa some weekends ago to have my manicure (because they are the cheapest around here) and I noticed that their nail polish collection is getting bigger and they had this color - sorry, I forgot the name - but I think it's a local brand.

I kind of like it. I like a more silver shiny instead of a silver frosty type but this works. I'm looking for a gold one that doesn't look cheap. Hehe.

Help? What do you think?

Barbie Pink

I had my nails done last night for the weekend. I wanted a happy color so I used their barbie pink color. I love it. I had my nails done at Haya Spa in Paseo de Magallanes. I love the ambiance, uber friendly staff and the prices, of course. They charge only half the price compared to other spas. Yey!

They have an early bird rate which is 10AM until 6PM. They give a PHP50 discount. They are open until 11PM.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Valentine

So here's the sad part, I'm a few days away from my final day as a college student and as you all know, that is probably the most stressful moment other than thesis and defense. So I don't have time for manis and pedis. I remember my mom and I shopped for nail polish when we were in Macau and this is one of them. It's Revlon nail enamel in Valentine.

 

It's a deep red with a shiny finish. I added base and top coats so it became shiner which is awesome. I used Orly Bonder as my basecoat and Orly Sec 'n Dry for my topcoat. I love the topcoat because even if my strokes were uneven the topcoat made it look flat and even. It also doesn't chip off as much as when I apply other topcoats. Its dries very quickly too! After a few minutes, it's completely dry! Amazing stuff.

 

When you look at it closely, you'll see that the color on the nail is very very similar to the color on the bottle which is good. You have to apply 2 coats to have this effect or else it'll just look like a very light red, close to a dark pink.

Pardon my uneven coating, I'm no expert. Hehe

Nails: Manicure at Nail Tropics

My friend invited me to have a mani-pedi session over at Greenbelt 5 last week, Thursday. This is my first time to try a new nail salon because for the past years (yes, years), I've been loyal to California Day Spa in Paseo de Magallanes. The problem with that nail salon is that they take forever to finish your nails. That's both a good and bad thing. Good because I'm sure that they take good care of my nails and they they aren't in a hurry just to cater to more customers. On the other hand, I hate it because it takes me two hours just to finish my nails. That's too long, I think. My bum hurts already!

My friend introduced me to this new nail salon in Greenbelt 5 called Nail Tropics. I've tried it once before but he space in Serendra was too small and it didn't feel cozy at all. The one in Greenbelt 5 wasn't so big either but it was more comfortable looking compared to the one in the Fort. My friend and I got the special room but there was extra charge.

The nail artists were very nice and accommodating. They greeted us with smiles and also catered to all our needs.The place and equipment were clean and very hyegenic. Also, they were very fast in doing the manicure. It took them only 40 minutes to finish my nails. Btw, I only had manicure. They also had a wide selection of nail polish. I believe they have OPI, Essie and other brands.

I used Essie in Baby's Breath. I love the color because it looks clean and surprisingly, I had the nail polish on for a week now and no chipping!

Light Orange Nails

So my old nail polish was already chipping so I decided to go to California Nail and Spa to get my nail polish changed. I didn't know it was so expensive to have my nail polish changed. It was around Php110. I though that was like Php50 only because even the nail polish is kinda cheap! Oh well, can't change that anymore.

Anyway, this is a new shade for me. I usually don't use oranges because they make me look darker. I don't know why I chose this shade. I thought at first that it would make me look old but it's growing on me!
