Movie Review: No Strings Attached

I guess I'm a little late with atch that whicto wpost because this was shown here and abroad like early this year. I think I didn't have time to watch it before or I watched something else. Nonetheless, here's the review.

I've known Ashton Kutcher to be OA when it comes to his well, acting. He's over the top and sometimes it's a hit or miss. This time, he showed very little OA, and his acting became more realistic. I think his acting matured and that's great. Maybe he got a few tips from Demi? Teehee.

As for Natalie Portman, she's awesome though her role came unexpected. I never thought a girl like her would suddenly be Ms. Independent. The switch in their roles made it fresh and very exciting to watch. It's definitely funny and it made me tear up a bit too.

I definitely recommend this to everyone (I don't think this is R-rated, maybe PG13). It's going to make you laugh and cry at the same time. By the way, the girl from Arthur is also here. I like! She's weird in a good way. :)

Your thoughts?

These are one of my favorite movies. No doubt. Hands-down. The only thing which I find weird is that I fell in love with Magneto and not with Professor X. Haha!

I think Mystique is weird, like psycho weird, Beast doesn't look as handsome as when he's older, I think Emma Frost's costume is very appropriate for the setting of the movie, I wish Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) had a more substantial role. I wish she had powers. I love her!

I really didn't get bored with the movie and I brought it with me outside the theater. That's what I qualify as a good movie - it has to move me, one way or another. The story line is very unique and there were no weird moments though the fight scenes were not as grand and as many as I imagined. The funny bits and cameos are delightful and I love the appearance of Wolverine. Btw, watch out for Wolverine 2 next year!

Don't even try to miss this one, you'll surely miss a lot!

Hint: If you're a movie buff like me, do try and watch a movie or two a week because every week, there will be a new movie to be released. :)

Movie Review: Paul

The first time I saw the trailer for this film, I already knew I wouldn't miss this. It got even better when it got released here in the Philippines. I've never really watched sci-fi films because I think they're boring but when they were as promising and as funny as Paul, I don't mind paying for it.

Last Sunday, I got to watch this film with the BF and we both enjoyed it but I wasn't satisfied.

A great funny film for me would be something I will still be "attached" to at the end of the film. Where I could not stop myself from laughing but this just didn't do it for me. I really thought this would be nice but the plot is kinda predictable and very simple. I wouldn't watch it again even if it was free. Hmm.

What do you think? X-men First Class review, coming up!

Movie Review: Kung Fu Panda 2

Last weekend, I got to watch Kung Fu Panda 2. I was so excited because the first one was a hit though I wasn't able to watch it in the cinema. I just watched it on TV. Anyway, two trailers were out and it seemed funny. I love Po. He's so cute and cuddly.

This movie is really for kids. There were some funny parts but the other jokes didn't really make me laugh. The son and father part made me tear up a bit. So this movie is really for kids and the kids at heart. It's not totally a bad movie but not as funny as Ice Age or as cute as Monsters, Inc., Up and Wall-E.

7/10

Movie Review: Priest

A few weeks ago, I watched Priest with the BF. It's either this movie or a chic flick. I can't remember which one. I think I have short term memory loss, seriously.

Anyway, we were so excited to see this movie because it has Paul Bettany. I also want to watch it because Maggie Q is there (I'm a big fan of Nikita).

The posters are nice, no? It;s like 300-ish but very dark and full of action. Well, not really. To tell you the truth, I slept during the movie. There were no wow scenes. The only part I liked was the beginning. There's nothing much to say alebout this movie because it was boring and the plot was so predictable. I miss movies with good stories and good endings. I think that endings are the make or break of movies. Remember Repo Men and Buried? The plot was so-so, not the best but not bad at all but the endings are unforgettable. By the way, X-Men First Class is showing this weekend! Can't wait!

Movie Review: Love and Other Drugs

Last night, I got home quite late and got nothing to do. I wasn't sleepy yet so I opened my movie vault and picked one (please don't ask me how I got my movies haha!). I picked Love and Other Drugs since I wasn't able to see it in cinemas. I think there was another movie that time that I watched.

This movie is a typical love story. The girl was dying and the guy fell in love with her. There's not much to say except that both did a good job. They portrayed their characters well and I even got teary eyed. For those hopeless romantics, you should watch this! Plus, they look good together. (Jake is sooo hot!)

Warning: A lot of love scenes so not really for kids. Hehe!

Here's the trailer just in case you don't know what I'm talking about. :)

Movie Review: Arthur

Just watched Diary of A Whimpy Kid 2 and Arthur. Yes, I watched two movies in one day. I actually enjoyed both. Both are truly fun movies which I wouldn't mind watching again. Diary of a Whimpy Kid 2 was a generally fun and cute movie but Arthur is a heart-warming comendy. I got teary eyed a few times. I thought Russell Brand would be corny but he turned out to be really funny. The whole cinema was LOL-ing. Haha.

I super recommend Arthur if you want a feel-good movie.

Disappointed with Sucker Punch

Yesterday, Ben and I went to Greenbelt to watch Sucker Punch. We actually couldn't decide if we wanted to watch that or Limitless because both seemed promising. We got the 6:30PM showing and had to wait a while for the screening.

If you've watched 300 and Watchmen, the graphics is very 300 but the story and movie progression is very Watchmen. The thing is, I enjoyed 300 but hated Watchmen.

The story line is unique but bordering weird for me. I did not enjoy it. I only liked the start but through the middle and the end, it was already too stressful and quite predictable.

I'm not saying don't watch this movie - just don't expect a lot from it.

Movie Review: I Am Number Four

The other day, my brother and I got home early from work so we and his wife went to watch a movie. My brother didn't want to watch Black Swan or any other movie so we watched I Am Number Four. I am pretty surprised with the movie because I thought it will be boring old school love story-action flick for teenagers but amazingly, it amused me to the extent that I want to see more. Too bad it had a bitin ending. Plus, Number Six is super hot.

Alex Pettyfer also in Beastly
Pettyfer + Dianna Agron whose style is Taylor Swift-ish

Movie Review: Black Swan

I watched Black Swan tonight with the BF and he was bummed because he really wanted to see Unkown - too bad there were no more good seats. I was actually shocked to find out that Unknown is almost sold out while Black Swan still has a lot of seats left. Maybe Pinoys doesn't want to watch a thriller?

I myself is not a fan of scary movies but this is an exception because I really heard great reviews about it and ever since the trailer, I wanted to watch it. I didn't even know if it will be shown here.

Anyway, I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10. I really like it, especially the ballet parts and the freaky parts but not the horror-ish parts. Good thing the BF is there. Hehe.

Here are the posters and trailer and I hope you watch it.

Please, don't wait for the DVD. Or dibidi. :))

Movie Review: Burlesque

Ben and I watched a movie this afternoon and we couldn't decide on which one to watch. I suggested Burlesque and he didn't like it at first but I got to force him so yey! Haha!

Here's a post last August 2010 when the first came out. I had to blog about it because I was really excited!

My gosh. Cher is still so pretty even when she's older now and Christina is so sexy. Perfect combination. Ben said that the plot was not that nice but I must say the performances, all the glitter and sensuality of this movie is A+. I especially love the last performance - Show Me How You Burlesque!

Here's the official and extended trailer of the movie and some videos from the movie:

Enjoy!

Movie Review: Repo Men

I watched Repo Men last night and it was fantastic. Some people might not like it because it's bloody - very bloody, but I don't mind since I rarely cringe at the sight of blood but only in movies! Hehe.

Anyway, it was nice to see Jude Law again in a movie along with Forest Whitaker. Jude Law's body in this movie is just super! I love it! I recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good action movie. The story, concept, effects and twists are awesome. If you liked The Tourist, you'll like this too!

Here are some posters and the trailer:
